Network management and monitoring issues are becoming key. They need to adapt to new architectures where data and services are much more distributed all along the networks, and with more elements in between the end points. To do so, network management and monitoring tools require new approaches and tools to cope with these new challenges. Network monitoring is evolving from an operation perspective towards new services where monitoring can help on identifying different types of traffic patterns that can affect the way we manage (operate) the network. This session will expose a simplified multi-layer management approach based on RINA for NREN, and two monitoring services, one based on NetSage and its advanced measurement services that offer traffic pattern understanding, while the other is based on 6MoNPlus to address distributed dual stack networks monitoring complexity. Moreover, the session will present a flexible tool for NOCs to send out operations messages.
